Why not publish torrents of the game? You know it will be leaked anyway, and that way we paying customers can get in on the fun!

Sorry, we were fixing bugs in the game to the last moment, so there was not much time to send the links sooner. Also one person put his link to public server so many people who did not pre-ordered is trying to download from this link (which was already removed).

And also we were afraid that if we would be sending links in longer interval, many of you would be even more disappointed that someone already has the game and (s)he not yet.

Say, I have a quick question.. In your e-mail it says to disable hardware acceleration for the flash player. Was wondering why that is because I’ve had it enabled when I played the demo….

I had my download link at 1.32 PM today. It’s now 11.40 PM and I’m still trying to download. It’s the third time I’ve had to restart the download because it simply stopped.

A torrent would have been faster, or at least FTP access for download. And just like Hauke said – how do we activate and download from Steam if our download from your server keep getting interrupted?

Well I started this morning after getting the mail…slow speed but it got it down only to say there is a error in the code so I have restated the load…but even slower speed now ..
Cant we get a torrent or something up for this or just limit the download to say 100ppl at the time or to make it go faster…
So looking forward to have fun whit this…

Now that the forum is down, where do we get support? My savegame has vanished! How come the Resume is gone? What happened? Isn’t here an autosave feature when you quit so next time you reload the Resume option will be there? Grrrr…

Where are the saved game stored on a PC? I want to make sure to keep a backup and don’t have to restart over next time it happen.

While I appreciate the difficulty that can arise with things such as this, I don’t think I will purchase directly from Amanita in the future. Rather than a lack of patience, I have a lack of understanding when individuals don’t follow through with what they should reasonably have anticipated. This feeling is especially compounded when a download times-out with mere percentages left.

Please rethink your manner of delivery in the future. Otherwise, I’m sure others such as myself will be happy to let a middleman take a cut of your revenue in order to have a better download experience.

It’s not the end of the world. Instead, it’s disappointing and an all too familiar occurrence with DD.

So, my download has just frozen again, 70 MB in this time, third time I’ve tried today. And now it’s saying source file cannot be read when I’m trying to start the download again. I’d really like to actually get to play this game at some point y’know…

We have done with sending emails (a few hours ago). If you have not received your email, than there may be a problem with your provider. We have known problems with “earthlink” servers and some “microsoft” servers and small, for us unknown, providers, but we are trying to contact such a people using another emails. We also have a few emails which returned back with a message that such a user does not exists anymore. If you still don’t get the links, don’t worry and contact us.

By the looks of things it’s looking like I made a big mistake in pre-ordering. I still haven’t received an email with the download link and I’m starting to feel like I’m the only one.

Now the forums are down I don’t really have much of a clue as to what’s going on, I sent and email to: orders@fastspring.com which is suggested in the FAQ but have heard nothing. I know you guys must be working very hard to fix this problem but it’d be nice to feel a bit more in the know.

Anyway, I’m just ranting, I’m sure it’s rather stressful to have all this happen during the release of what looks to be an outstanding game.

Rhialto: the game is written in Flash so we are using “Flash Shared Object” [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Local_Shared_Object] which is on Windows stored somewhere in %APPDATA%\Macromedia\Flash Player\#SharedObjects\<random code>\localhost\<path>\<object name>.sol where <path> and <object name> is path to your exe and exe’s name itself.

Maybe some of you are using paranoid tools which clear such a dirs. For example known Windows’ tool which is able to erase the saved Machinarium’s positions is CCleaner (quite useful tool anyway, sometimes:).

Steve: Flash HW acceleration is something like VOODOO… not many people know how it works. We have been asking but have got no answers.. but from some people we know, that turning HW acceleration off can solve some strange Flash draw problems (especially in a Fullscreen mode) which may be caused by user’s HW. On my PC I don’t see any difference as well, but… you know… a lot of people have a lot of different HW these days.

Well shoot, it stalled at 182 megs, just sitting there. Should I leave it alone or start over again?

Okay, I paused it and started it again and it took off where it left off…

Had an horrendous time trying to download it today – took about 8 hours, including stopping halfway, and forcing it to resume – but I totally understand the problem, and it is definitely worth the wait. If you like point and click adventure games you will love it. I’ve got one screen further than the demo so far and I’m blown away. If the rest of the game is as enjoyable and detailed as this, in my opinion it could easily be game of the year.

I have not received my email for down load link. I pre-ordered yesterday and got the wallpaper/MP3 package to the email that I used to order.

Thanks for explaining the reason I lost my saved games, too. I indeed have been using CCleaner (on a daily basis) and I have it set to “clean” Adobe Flash player (among other things). I was a little shocked to see all my progress gone but that just means I get to experience the earlier levels of this wonderful game all over again :)

CCleaner! Really make sense because I use it quite often… Glad I was only at the 5th screen when it happened.

So I guess I will stop using it until I complete Machinarium.

P.S. you should add a warning somewhere about this to avoid frustration.

Well, I just want to add that I got it quickly last night and have had no problems whatsoever, once I disabled Hardware Acceleration (the game was freezing up). The one problem I DID have wasn’t technical, though. Seriously, who puts a plunger THERE?!!!!!!! ;)

I’ve received on 3 october 2009 (my preorder day) two e-mails from Amanita Design Support (mailer@fastspring.com). The first one contained purchase information (i’ve got an Order ID and i can send u if u need) while the last one contained the preorder pack download (high res images and some mp3s). It seems there’s not problem with “.hotmail” account, ins’t it?

For those moaning for not getting the game yet, yes, it is totally worth the wait, stop moaning, let them do their best to get the game to you, you do realize they ARE trying their best to ease your “waiting time”. So help them help you, ok.

I do understand that an indie developer (who doesn’t want middlemen to take a cut) will have some problems with the distribution, but please, do _something_ about it! Increase the server’s speed or load or whatnot. Because if this downloading speed continues (not to mention the sudden stopping of the download), I and many more won’t be able to play the game until next year!

You could have signed up with a global caching provider such as Akamai for example. I don’t think handling all your own traffic for these downloads would have been affordable, maybe it would have eaten all the profits from the game… But global caching (or even going through e.g. Amazon’s cloud services) might have done the trick.

Of course sticking it on a torrent would have been still better, because the torrent’s speed scales with its popularity if you manage to get a few high-speed seeders in there.

this is directed at the people who already bought the game but have problems getting it through the official means due to technical problems.

I know it’s a sad thing but it has been already put on several torrent sites and i recommend downloading it from there in case you cannot wait any longer and feel disappointed. (after all you bought it and it’s the same content)

It’s a shame bittorrent couldn’t be utilised in some way here. It’s up on the file sharing sites already – It’s ironic that the people who haven’t paid for it get to play it first. That said, can’t wait to play it! :)

I got my link around 1 AM following release day and found it when I got up the next morning. It was slow to download, but I got it no problems. I’m really happy that I pre-ordered this game. I usually don’t like puzzle games, but the artwork and sounds are so amazing together, it’s a joy to experience.

The download speed is much better today (less than 15 minutes to download, instead of all afternoon). Those of you complaining and demanding immediate service are really out of line. Amanita surely did not do this on purpose. A little patience goes a long way. We need to support small developers!

very beautiful graphic, but very frustating, because too slow to activate the motion . And not enough hints or instructions to go on. I am at the boiler room scene and cannot move the item to the robot, completely stuck. And don’t know how to continue. Where can I get help. Very disappointing.
